Arduino? Netduino? Maybe WootEvent-branded hardware?

I'm what you'd call a "microcontroller groupie". ;) I think they are impressive and I like the Arduino: open source, programmed in C. But I haven't done anything with it.
As for small computers I've done some work on the Nintendo DS which is sort of a half-way point between desktop computer and microcontroller: small, limited resources and functionality, lots of emulation when developing... although they are super computers compared to the Arduino or any other microcontroller.
