Imagine blistering through the middle of a carrier face-off, escorting bombers on suicide runs, designing cruisers bristling with huge broadside cannons.
All in real time multiplayer. Top down, so you can see 100% of the action.
Some of the Woot Events folks will be putting together a nice overview of this fine title in due time.
I think this game has some major potential for 32 on 32 at a LAN party where you can form fighter and bomber squads, frigate strike groups, and face off in Star Wars fashion.
What do you dudes think? http://www.gimbalgame.com
Can I get this cheap anywhere?
It's currently on for $5 if you use the code VIDYA.
Can I do a suicide run on the enemy carrier?
Collisions = damage. And yes, it will often mean death if you're a speed demon. Good option if your'e about to die.
Does sensor ping reveal ships at all ranges equally or does it factor in stealth?
Stealth is factored in. Small low-powered ships are harder to see. And the ping is a multiplier of your sensor power. So if you ping an AWACS sensor, you pretty much light up everything on the map.
Ah wow this sounds a bit like a dream LAN party game. We'll have to check it out for sure.
I wonder if the dev could set up a free weekend or a demo version in order for some of us to try it out at an event (or some sort of Blizzard-style "spawn" system would be nice).

Playing a game for the graphics is like watching porn for the story.
I just got out of a game where the carriers actually met up and started killing eachother. Podships were warping in and crashing into the carriers. Looked pretty hardcore.
Who's down for a community match this weekend?
